EMERGENCY CALL NUMBER
Along the highway and on road sections with many tunnels and bridges, as well as adverse weather conditions, “Egnatia Odos S.A.” has made available to users the four-digit emergency telephone number 1077. This number can be called from both landline and mobile phones, allowing users to communicate with regional Traffic Control Centers for assistance.
To inform road users about the emergency call option, appropriate signage is regularly posted, as shown in the example below.
The four-digit code 1077 is continuously serviced 24×7 by Traffic Control Centers along the Egnatia Highway and covers the regions through which the motorway and its vertical axes pass (Thesprotia, Ioannina and Metsovo area, Trikala, Grevena, Kastoria, Kozani, Imathia, Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Serres, Kavala, Xanthi, Rodopi, Evros).
Additionally, 1077 is available to users of the underwater tunnel of Aktio-Preveza and in the regions of Preveza, Arta, and Aitoloakarnania.
Calls from landlines to 1077, regardless of the region, are charged as urban tariffs according to the decision of the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission (Decision No. 966/2 – Government Gazette 5266/B/30-11-2020), while calls from mobile networks are provided free of charge by major mobile service providers. Roaming charges for foreign users may apply according to their provider’s pricing policy. More information can be found on your provider’s website.

TUNNEL EMERGENCY PHONES
In sections of the Egnatia Highway where there are tunnels and depending on their length, emergency (SOS) phones have been installed and functioning allowing users to communicate with regional Traffic Control Centers operating 24×7. These phones are located:
The locations of the SOS phones in the tunnels are marked with appropriate signs.
The devices used are vandal-resistant (with or without a handset) and have buttons on their front panel. The call is immediately directed to the relevant regional Traffic Control Center for assistance.
