It is extremely dangerous for coaches to stop on the motorway

After the recent fatal injury of a woman on the Egnatia Motorway, who was knocked over by a truck, while she was getting out of a coach, in the area of Komotini Interchange, “Egnatia Odos AE” requests that all coach drivers shall in no way stop to let passengers get out on the motorway.

With respect to the provisions of the Highway Code, pedestrians are prohibited to cross the motorway, vehicles are prohibited to stop and the Emergency Lane shall not be used for any other reason other than in case of emergency.

In any case and irrespective of the fact that it is strictly prohibited by the Highway Code, it is extremely dangerous for coaches to stop on the motorway, both for vehicles and passengers moving on the motorway.
