The section of Egnatia Motorway that runs through Eastern Macedonia & Thrace is 246 km long and extends from Strymonas to Kipi (Evros).
The motorway has been constructed as a dual carriageway, separated by a central reserve, with two traffic lanes and a hard shoulder per direction. Its total width is 24.5 m. (or 22,0 m at certain difficult sections).
The total of the projects in Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Prefecture has been completed and opened to traffic.
The total cost for the completion of all 246 km from Strymonas I/C to Kipi amounts to 1.042 M € (exclusive of VAT). Funding has been secured by the CSF II & III Operational Programs (European Regional Development Fund) and by the Cohesion Fund. The national contribution has been covered by the European Investment Bank (EIB) loans.
