Welcome to the new EgnatiaPass service of Egnatia Odos S.A.

We introduce you to the new EgnatiaPass service, designed by “Egnatia Odos S.A.” and available to its users.

The new EgnatiaPass service allows you:  

  • To pass comfortably and safely through the toll stations of “Egnatia Odos S.A.”,
  • To avoid cash transactions at toll stations, and
  • If you are a freelancer or a company, to easily, monitor and manage your monthly charges, receiving a monthly invoice free-of-charge.

The EgnatiaPass service is available since 1/9/2020 for all toll stations of “Egnatia Odos S.A.”, as well as for the submarine tunnel of Aktio- Preveza, while from 4/11/2020 it can be used in the entire toll road network in Greece.

What is the EgnatiaPass service?

The EgnatiaPass service is yet another service provided by “Egnatia Odos S.A.” for electronic toll payment. By subscribing to the EgnatiaPass service, you will be able:

  • To pass comfortably and safely through the electronic toll payment lanes both at the toll stations of “Egnatia Odos S.A.”, as well as at all toll stations of the Greek Motorways.
  • To avoid cash transactions at toll stations,
  • If you are a freelancer or a company, to easily monitor and manage your monthly charges, receiving an invoice free-of-charge and,
  • To manage your account through the online application myEgnatiaPass 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

By subscribing to the EgnatiaPass service, you receive a free electronic transponder, which you must install in your vehicle.

At the same time, you create a subscriber account which you top up with an initial amount of funds, which you can use to pay for your future transactions at all toll stations of “Egnatia Odos S.A.” as well as of the other Greek Motorways.

Every time you pass through the toll stations of “Egnatia Odos S.A.”, you can use the electronic toll payment lanes, without having to carry out a manual transaction.

The respective toll fee will be automatically deducted from your account, while appropriate indications displayed at the toll lane will let you know if you need to replenish your account.

If you have more than one vehicle in your possession, we will provide you with an appropriate number of electronic transponders to fully meet your needs.

As a subscriber to the EgnatiaPass service, you will now be able to completely manage your subscription account directly, as and when you wish.

Your account is managed using the myEgnatiaPass Internet application through which you can:

  • See the available balance of your account directly,
  • Top up your account using debit/credit cards, whenever you want and with whatever amount you want,
  • See transactions of your account in detail,
  • Manage the transponders connected to your subscription account,
  • Get the monthly invoice and the detailed balance of your subscription account directly,
  • Access all previous invoices and detailed statements of your subscription account, as well as other useful functions.

If you are a freelancer or representing a company, you will also receive on a monthly basis the relevant invoice by post and a detailed statement of the transactions that have been made with each of the electronic transponders, as well as the cash deposits you have made in your account.

Which Vehicles can use the EgnatiaPass Service?

The vehicles that can use the EgnatiaPass service are:

The EgnatiaPass service is not available for owners of two- and three-wheeled vehicles. Owners of these vehicles can use the EgnatiaCard service for manual toll collection lanes.

Are there any Discount programs?

The discount programs of the EgnatiaPass service are available since March 1st, 2021, offering significant discounts to the subscribers of the service.

Now with the use of the EgnatiaPass service, along with other benefits, you will enjoy discounts of up to 100% for category 2 vehicle owners and up to 30% for category 2, 3 and 4 vehicle owners, significantly reducing the cost of your monthly travel from all toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A.

Α. What are the available discount programs of EgnatiaPass service?

Α.1. “Smart” Subscription Program:

All users of Egnatia Odos with vehicles of category 2, 3 and 4 (i.e. all vehicles except motorcycles and tricycles) can register with the “Smart” discount subscription program. The subscribers of this discount program benefit from a graduated discount on the nominal toll price that is valid for each station, depending on the number of transactions they carry out on a monthly basis at the toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A. (from the first to the last calendar day of each month). The offered discount percentages on the nominal toll price of each station are presented in the table below:

A.2. “Citizen” Discount Program:

All Egnatia Odos users who use category 2 vehicles (i.e. vehicles with or without a trailer and a height of up to 2.70 meters) can register with the “Citizen” discount subscription program. The subscribers of this discount program benefit from a graduated discount on the nominal toll fee that is valid for each station, depending on the number of transactions they carry out on a monthly basis at the toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A. (from the first to the last calendar day of each month). The offered discount percentages on the nominal toll price of each station are presented in the table below:

Β. How are the monthly transactions that determine the discount calculated?

  • The discounts concern exclusively the transactions that you make at the toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A.
  • The transactions at the toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A. are calculated for each calendar month for each of the electronic transponders / cards (separately) that you have linked to your subscription account.
  • Example 1: If on a trip you pass through three toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A. with one vehicle / transponder and return (within the same month with the same vehicle /  transponder), then you will have a total of 6 transactions. If you repeat your trip once again on one of the following days of the same calendar month (with the same vehicle / transponder), then the total number of transactions for the specific transpondertransponder in the given calendar month will be 12.
  • Example 2: If you use Egnatia Odos to get to and return from your place of work on working days of a month, which are usually 22, with the same vehicle / transpondertransponder, then on a monthly basis you will have made 44 transactions for the specific vehicle / transponder. 
  • When the calendar month changes, then the number of transactions per transponder / card is back to zero and the transactions of the new month are added.
  • If your account is also linked to smart cards (eCard), then each of them is considered as a different transponder and the transactions with the card are added separately (per card).

C. Which discount program is in my interest to choose?;

If you have linked vehicles of category 2 (i.e. vehicles with or without a trailer and height up to 2.70 meters) to your account, then:

  • If you make up to 29 transactions per month from the toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A., you should choose the “Smart” discount program.
  • If you make 30 or more transactions per month, you should choose the “Citizen” discount program.

If your account is linked with vehicles of category 3 or 4 (i.e. vehicles with a height over 2.70 meters with two or more axles), you can only select the “Smart” discount program.

If your account is linked with vehicles of category 2 and 3 or 2 and 4 or 2 and 3 and 4, you can select the “Smart” discount plan or ask for the creation of a new account for category 2 vehicles, so that you are a eligible for the “Citizen” program, based on the aforementioned criteria (monthly transactions).

D. How do I enroll in the discount program I want?

How can I subscribe to the EgnatiaPass service?

You can subscribe to the EgnatiaPass Service in one of the following ways:

You can visit one of the existing Customer Service Points that are in operation on Egnatia Odos and register directly to the EgnatiaPass service. You will immediately receive the electronic transponder and pay the minimum amount that is required for the activation, so that you can use your transponder to make your next transaction through the electronic payment lane.

Subscriber service points are available today:

  1. At the Malgara toll station in the direction towards Kipi, with opening hours:
    • Monday to Saturday: 08:00 – 20:00
    • Sundays and Holidays: 10:00 – 18:00
  2. At the Thessaloniki toll station in the direction towards Igoumenitsa with opening hours:
    • Monday to Saturday: 08:00 – 20:00

What documents do I need for my registration?

Α. If you are an Individual:

  1. You must present:
    1. Identity Card or Passport or Driver’s License of the person who will be registered in the EgnatiaPass service, either during your visit to the Customer Service Points or upon receipt of the package with the electronic transponder from the Courier.
    2. Document certifying the TIN, the Tax Office and the residential address of the person to be registered to the EgnatiaPass service. These supporting documents are returned to the interested party after the necessary inspection. If such a document is not available, then the interested party will sign a declaration form given by our company.

    If the registration is done by a third party or the package will be received from a third party, then an authorization signed by the interested party and validated by Police, Public Service, etc. is required, as well as the Identity Card or Passport or Driver’s License of the person who will make the registration (Authorized). In case of authorization, it is not required to show the identity of the account holder, but only of the one mentioned in the authorization that will register or receive the package.

Β. If you are a Freelance Professional

In order to receive the relevant document which will be used for tax purposes:

  1. You must present the Identity Card or Passport or Driver’s License of the person who will be registered in the EgnatiaPass service either during your visit to the Customer Service Points or upon receipt of the package with the electronic transponder from the Courier.
  2. Upon receipt of the package, you must present or show the courier a professional stamp with his / her details (Name, TIN, Tax Identification Number, registered tax office) or Certificate of commencement of work of a natural person or tradesman or Receipt or Service Invoice or a copy of VAT or form E3. These supporting documents are returned to the interested party after the relevant inspection.
  3. If the registration is done by a third party or the package will be received from a third party, then an authorization signed by the interested party and validated by Police, Public Service, etc. is required, as well as the Identity Card or Passport or Driver’s License of the person who will make the registration (Authorized). In case of authorization, it is not required to show the identity of the account holder, but only of the one mentioned in the authorization that will register or receive the package.

C. Companies – Organizations – Other Legal Entities

You must provide the following to the Customer Service Centers or send the following before signing up:

  1. Representation statement from the Hellenic Business Registry or the company’s statute validated by a lawyer, which will provide the name, the registered office, the T.I.N., the competent Tax Office, as well as the legal representative of the company.
  2. Proof of identity (police ID card, passport or driver’s license) of the legal representative who signs the application for registration in the service.
  3. A signed – by the legal representative – list with the registration numbers and the category of the vehicles for which transponders are requested for the EgnatiaPass service.
  4. If the registration is done by a third party, the authorization of the legal representative of the company is required in a formal letter with the seal of the company that meets the legal requirements , with a certificate of genuine signature. The authorization must contain at least the following:
  • The name of the Company and the name of the Legal Representative (who signs the authorization),
  • the name and number of the identity card or passport of the authorized person,
  • the number of vehicles that the company wishes to link to its account.

In the case of Legal Entities under Public Law, the above authorization must be signed by the Director of the Service with a certificate of genuine signature.

How do I install the electronic Transponder in my vehicle?

By subscribing to the EgnatiaPass subscription service you receive a free electronic transponder, which you must install in your vehicle.

If you have a Category 2 vehicle (light vehicles), then the electronic transponder given to you when you registered with EgnatiaPass should be permanently installed on the inside of the windscreen, behind the interior mirror.

If you have a category 3 or 4 vehicle (trucks), then the electronic transponder given to you during registration must be placed low and central on the windscreen, where it connects to the dashboard of the vehicle.

 

Regardless of the type of vehicle you have, if your windshield is thermal, there is an allocated place for the electronic transponder, which is determined by the vehicle manufacturer. For more information, refer to the operating instructions of your vehicle.

To install the electronic transponder you must follow the following steps:

To be able to use the automatic electronic toll payment lanes safely, you must have the EgnatiaPass electronic transponder permanently installed on the windshield of your vehicle.

How do I go through the toll stations?

By subscribing to the EgnatiaPass subscription service you receive a free electronic transponder, which you must install in your vehicle

Σταθμός διοδίωνAt each of your transactions at the toll stations of Egnatia Odos S.A. or any other Greek Motorway, you can use the exclusive electronic toll payment lanes, which are marked with the special yellow sign that appears at the top of the toll station as shown in the photograph.

 

Your passage through this lane should be done with special care and at a speed not exceeding 20 kmh, and only after the transaction of the vehicle ahead has been completed. For this reason, you must keep a safe distance of at least 10 meters from the vehicle ahead. If the exclusive electronic toll payment lane is closed due to a system upgrade or equipment maintenance, or you have accidentally selected a toll booth, then remove the electronic transponder from its base and give it to the toll collector to complete your transaction.

Each time you go through the automatic toll payment lanes, you will have to monitor the audio notifications of the electronic transponder, as well as the visual messages that appear on the electronic screen of the lane. In particular::

έγκυροςVALID – GOOD:

A beep sound is emitted from your device, the traffic light turns green and the bar opens automatically so that you can go through.

 

 


οριακόLIMIT – LOW:

Two beep sounds are emitted, the traffic light is lit green and the bar opens automatically so that you can go through. BUT, your account balance is low and you will need to renew it.

 

 


άκυροCANCELED – BAD:

Three beep sounds are emitted, the traffic light remains red and the bar does not open. Your account has been deactivated. In this case you have to go through a toll booth to pay for your transit with cash or card and, at the same time, renew your account, if you wish.

Your device has not been identified by the Toll System or your device has been canceled. Make sure the EgnatiaPass device is properly installed on your vehicle windscreen and repeat the process. Do not attempt to pass if “NO Pass” appears again, the traffic light remains red and the bar does not open. In this case, go through a toll booth to pay in cash or by card, and visit one of the available Customer Service Points to check the operation of your transponder

 

CAUTION! For the proper operation of your subscription service, the electronic transponder should be kept in good condition. In case it does not work properly or is damaged, you will need to visit one of the Customer Service Points to have it replaced. How do I Renew My Account?

By subscribing to the EgnatiaPass subscription service you can now add funds to your subscription account (Renew) in any of the following ways you wish:

  • Through the myEgnatiaPass application in which all EgnatiaPass subscribers can register (for free). The account is renewed using bank cards with direct update of your account balance. One of the major benefits of this method is that you can instantly see the new available cash balance in your account.

  • In all the lanes with collector at the tolls of Egnatia Odos S.A., with cash or bank card (debit or credit) with immediate update of your account balance. CAUTION! This possibility is not available at the toll stations of other Greek Motorways.
  • By calling the Telephone Customer Service at 2310 470 100 using a bank card (debit or credit), with immediate update of your account balance.
  • At any Customer Service Point (SSC) of Egnatia Odos SA , with cash or the use of a bank card (debit or credit), with immediate update of your account balance.
  • Via the Internet using the Live – Pay service (www.livepay.gr) with a bank card (debit or credit). From the home page in the field “direct bill payment”, enter Egnatia Odos S.A., select the relevant entry that appears in the list and follow the instructions for completing the transaction. In this case your account balance is updated within two business hours.
  • Via Smart Phone using the Live – Pay application (Google Play or AppStore ) with a bank card (debit or credit). From the home page, select “Quick Payment Search”, enter Egnatia Odos S.A., select the relevant entry that appears in the list and follow the relevant instructions to complete the transaction. In this case, too, your account balanve will be updated within two business hours.   

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

How much will I be charged for the EgnatiaPass electronic transponder?

  • The electronic transponder EgnatiaPass is provided free of charge for use to our subscribers.

Can I have more than two vehicles in the same subscription account?

  • There is no limit to the number of vehicles. All you need to do is enter the registration numbers of the vehicles you have, during the registration process or whenever you wish, and you will be given the corresponding number of electronic transponders – one for each vehicle.

What should I do if I lose my EgnatiaPass electronic transponder?

  • You can call Customer Service or contact one of the Customer Service Points to report the loss of your device in writing. You can also send the loss declaration form via email to the email address: customercare@egnatia.gr or by fax to 2310 470220. In each of the above cases, you must state the customer code and vehicle license plate number, so that your request can be addressed from the next business day.

Will I receive a transit account and a detailed statement for the transactions I will make?

  • Using the myEgnatiaPass application you can get the Monthly Statement as soon as it is issued. By using this application, you can also have access to the transaction accounts of the previous months.

Can I ride my motorbike through the automatic toll payment lane?

  • Motorcycles are not allowed to use automatic electronic lanes for safety reasons. Egnatia Odos motorcycle subscribers use the EgnatiaCard via a toll booth, enjoying the rest of the EgantiaPass service advantages.

Can I use the EgnatiaPass electronic transponder on other motorways?

  • You can use the EgnatiaPass service at all the toll stations of the Greek Motorways, making your travels comfortable and safe, with just a single account throughout Greece (thanks to the Greek Interoperability System (GRITS) in which Egnatia Odos S.A. also participates).
